webIT Security Considerations

Since most OptiDoc installations contain highly sensitive documents and confidential data, every technical effort has been made to insure that WebIT users operate within a highly secure environment.

Technical Overview

InLine Document Imaging - webITInitially, a user must log into the webIT system in order to have access to any data through the webIT server. Nothing can be obtained from the web server without a valid login and password. The webIT logins and passwords are not held anywhere on the webIT server. They are held inside of the associated SQL server and are specifically encrypted and encoded using all of the security techniques implemented on the SQL server.

Additionally, InLine recommends that SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) Security be implemented on the webIT server to further secure the data transfer. Therefore the webIT logins and passwords are as secure as the SQL server makes them.

WebIT users do not cache web pages, logins, or passwords, therefore unauthorized users (or hackers) cannot obtain this information by scavenging an unattended webIT workstation. All image data that is provided to a webIT user comes across the HTTP connection and is stored in memory on the client workstation. Temporary image files are NEVER stored on the client workstation. Further, no cookies, temporary files, or other information is left behind on the client workstation when the application is released.
